SB> Nope. Is it a book I should add to my list of books to read someday?
Uh... If I were you I wouldn't put it real high on my list. But it is a
book that someone on the "other" service that claims to be full-blood
has recommended at a book the can "teach" the "white guy" about the
Indian".
(This same person also claims that one can NEVER "learn" about "Indians"
by reading books... Go figure.)
It's a book by a "white guy" that has been "taught" by a Lakota "elder"
(whom the author does not identify) over the period of one summer or so.
(The full-blood I mentioned above "claims" to "know" some of the people
mentioned in the book which supposedly gives it some authenticity.)
It kinda sorta seems like a more up-to-date "Black Elk Speaks" trying to
relate the "modern" 1990s world with Indian beliefs. Particularly of
interest was the justification for what the "mainstream culture" would call
"trash" or "litter", such as abandoned and wrecked cars.
I was hoping you had read it. I would trust your judgement more than this
other individual.
Jim
