Of course, your property taxes are a lot higher too. There is no such
thing as "free lunch". Our annuaul property taxes on a $100,000 house is
only $920 per year. And then we have 4% in lieu property taxes
(license plates) on the *base sticker price* EACH of our vehicles, which
in the first year can be as high as $800 for your AVERAGE vehicle. That
price declines by 25% of the remaining balance each year. My 10 year old
Nissan King Cab now has a tax of about $95 per year. I understand
that California property taxes are so high that they unscrew the
eyeballs ! Enjoy your $13 per credit hour. That's a bargain. Ours was
at that rate in '86.
JS> Plus, add all the lab fees, malpractice insurance, books,
JN> We have those expenses also. They just can't be avoided anywhere.
True. When I did my EMT in '86, malpractice insurance was $10.00. Today,
each student has to pay $225.00 for THREE 8 hour shifts at local E/R's!
How greedy insurance companies are! Just to get an education only (!).
