It's good to have a non-catastrophe sometimes to break up the monotony.
Saturday night we were bac at the place with the alcoholic owner and his
stripper girlfriend. Unfortunately, she wasn't there.
Fortunately, the place was SRO.
Unfortunately, it was SRO full of hillbillies.
Fortunately, they were almost of a mind to listen to comedy.
Unfortunately, our fans couldn't get seats.
Unfortunately, there were 4 comics (too many).
Fortunately, the previous 3 did little time.
We had the biker chick from hell there (I asked her to beat me up - I'd
like it), and more drunks than you can fling a dead cat at. They we
REALLY wound up, sometimes so much that it felt like riding a tiger.
But they liked us.
The previous Thursday, we were out entertaining the folks in a
neighboring burb. Turns out we were right across the street from the
county Mental Lockup, which probably explained the crowd. There was one
girl who was talking when we entered, and still talking when we left. I
politely advised her to SHUT THE #$&% UP, but she was incapable.
So these people were all but hostile. The real kicker though, was our
finale. As soon as we got to the chorus of We Are the Tampons, Ira
reached down for his 2' tall `hat' and UNPLUGGED the p.a., my wireless,
and my amp. We got to finish up a-capella, which didn't matter, as
only the comics were listening at that point.
Some day.....
