Picked this up off a newsgroup, rec.hunting.

Further to my recent posting, I can now confirm that the UK ban on small
calibre hanguns (.22 and smaller) was effective from 1st February this
year. Owners have up until 28th February to surrender them. Larger =
calibre
handguns were illegal from September last year. A statement by Henry
McLeish, a government minister, on TV today said that, having totally
banned handguns, the government would now turn its attention to airguns
(slug guns) and replica weapons.
Things on this side of the pond are going from bad to worse!
