SB> Grin! It's amazing how quick folks are to defend their own belief
SB> systems, and, at the same time, they often do not give the same
SB> respect to the beliefs of others they wish those others to give to
SB> theirs.
That lack of respect seems to be more prevelant with "Christianity"-based
religions.
SB> We have similar services here, also; but it is never enough.
What or how much _is_ enough?
SB> "Why
SB> don't you have drug rehab centers?' asks the parents of drug abusers.
SB> "Why don't you have medical clinics?" asks the ill. But there just
SB> isn't enough money to meet all needs.
At what point does the "more money doesn't solve the problem" get reached.
SB> I personally would rather see
SB> programs on how to create your own business, how to find scholarships,
SB> etc. first; and then, if there's still money, look at what else is
SB> needed.
There are those programs here in Oregon. ONABEN, computer classes,
Underrepresented Minorities Schloarships, etc.
SB> Then again, I left my people for an education. On the other hand, I
SB> had already left my people at ten to be a migrant worker. And I had an
SB> academic scholarship to college, one that actually had no dependency
SB> at all on my being Native or my being poor, although I would have
SB> looked for such scholarships if I had needed them.
And at some point in time you were no longer dependent on "others'. And in
your case you went elsewhere to find what was not available in your
community. The point I was trying to make was that some people leave a
community that has many of those things available to go to another community
whose services are already overburdened. For example there is NO Native
America College or University in Oregon.
