subject: Silvia Ann Hewlett speaks...

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/newspaper/0,,176-1512330,00.html

After explaining that there's this bird who spends her entire life
thinking about things other than work... Sylvia interestingly then
points out...

"The overwhelming evidence shows that women want to work - and work
hard - " --- Sylvia Ann Hewlett.

And yet... "19 out of 20 women don't want to work as much as they do.
12 out of 20 don't actually want to work at all." Answers to poll of
working women.

but then, out of nowhere, Sylvia Ann hits the nail right on the head.

"So, given the opportunity, the experience of the companies involved in
the research shows that women will return to work. A large percentage
of highly qualified women do off-ramp, but the vast majority cannot
wait to get back into the workplace. They need the money"

but then she completely fucks it up....

"One thing is clear: the talent is out there. Some 54% of those who go
on to higher education in Britain are now female. Women are needed and
want to stay in the workplace. It is fascinating to watch how business
is trying to give them a second shot at ambition after they have had
children. "

All doing media studies and philosophy, in watered down, subjective,
coursework based (ie cheating enabled) courses.

I can't work out why Sylvia got some points right, and some so way of
the mark. She could have been guessing, biased, or stupid. (Or just
writing down statements on bits of paper and throwing darts at them.)
