Looks like the US attitude toward nukes is changing. With any luck we'll
see new reactors under construction in the next few years

=====================
“You’re going to see a movement toward nuclear power,” said Reid, the
Senate minority leader. “If it’s done right, we believe it will protect the
environment.”

Even a handful of environmentalists — a group that long viewed fission with
suspicion — say they could tolerate new nuclear power because it does not
cause global warming, the top environmental problem to many.

To many Americans, nuclear power's environmental advantages have become
increasingly clear. A recent national poll shows that 63 percent of people
who describe themselves as environmentalists favor nuclear energy. And 60
percent of those polled agree that "we should definitely build more
nuclear power plants in the future."
