I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating.  Try some calcium
carbonate powder on anything from dried polishing stains to water spots. 
It takes the stuff right off the glass, but is softer than the glass so
will not scratch.  We use it nearly every day around the mirror lab. 
Couldn't tell you where to get it though - we get it thru chemical stores
at the University of Arizona...
