It's such a complex issue, however, that there really is no simple policy
formulation that would cover every conceivable situation.

In an ideal world people would leave detailed living wills that indicate
under which conditions they would wish to be kept alive, and under which
they would prefer to die with dignity.

In Texas, people who can afford to pay are kept alive, those who can't can
have the plugs pulled by medical providers whether legally responsible
family members agree or not.    Do you think ability to
pay should be the criterion?
