RB*I am sorry that I went into all that detail about Wood Badge. After I
rote
*the first message to you I re-read your message to me and noted that you
*already know all about Wood Badge. Sorry about that !YIS,
No actually not, there were several pieces of into I did not know & I
do thank you for that explicit description.
Been kind of busy....our Pack's 50th anniversary will be held this
Sunday at our Blue & Gold Dinner. There is always more to do than one
remembers and time is short. Of all things, my older son will be
confirmed the following Sunday & my house is filled to the rafters with
Blue & Gold, summer camp, and other Cub Scout stuff. God will I ever
reclaim my house?
To make matters worse regarding the time factor, I have now visited
with 4 troops, 3 of them 2 times (once planned, once as a surprise)
My 6 Webelos are not yet committed to what troop to join, so I do not
think we'll be able to bridge them on Sunday, only give them the Arrow
of Light. What a pain this Troop choosing has been. The boys of
course do not look at the same things we adults do & it is them who are
supposed to make the decision. Augh....
If you had a choice of
a) troop w/ 9 active Scouts ranging from Tenderfoot to Life, & one
working & aspiring towards eagle. Scoutmaster only...no other active
adults. Nice boys, nice scoutmaster, good scoutskills, monthly
camping if other adults recruited to go with him, otherwise cancelled,
Klondike winners. Program based on Skills, Skills, Skills September
through January. Switching to some skills and then fun from Feb to
June. Provisional summer camping only. Do not use new scout patrol
method. Well uniformed and great ceremony manners.
b) Troop w/ 16 active scouts from 4 different towns ranging from
Tenderfoot to Life. One working towards eagle. Scoutmaster, 5 asst.
sm, seems boy run troop, lots of action & going many places, most very
well planned. Somewhat "rough" crowd, not necessarily "education"
minded. Goes 1 week to summercamp. Do not use new scout patrol
method. Older scouts have been seen smoking on trails at Klondike.
Klondike winners & good team spirit. Terrible uniforming and ceremony
manners.
c) Troop w/ 19 active scouts from own neighbourhood, major changes in
leadership. same scoutmaster since 89, several Webelos parents going
in as ASM. of 19 boys only 4 life, 1 going for eagle, all others are
2nd class or below. 10 incoming Webelos next month & will use new
scout patrol method. Talks about being boy run, but do not show it too
much, probably due to large spread in rank. SPL does plan out
meetings. Well uniformed & good ceremony manners. 1 week summercamp.
The parent lean to group c but the boys to group b, and they do not
want to split up. What do you think?
