Later developments in the USR_MODEMS echo give the information that genuine
Intel part doesn't do it.  One presumes that brand X, whatever it is, does.

It's also a pleasant feeling to find Intel on the side of the white hats
for a change.  Enough Pentium horrors, and silent step changes is enough.
