I agree this is troubling. If it were a straightforward transcription, then
I'm with Adam, this is an immaterial tempest in a teapot. But if it were a
straightforward transcription one wonders why it wasn't presented as such.
Perhaps it is indeed a transcription but the reporter showed appalling
judgment in an effort to bolster the credibility of the scoop?
