I seem to be lucky, there is one chip looking like EEPROM to me in

the socket! Can't read it as it has a QC sticker on it and the modem

sits pretty tight between other boards.

True, it is an easy modem to drive, not many complicated commands.

Being used to Rockwell stuff I thought at first that my manual has

half of its pages missing.
