I've often found that if I immerse myself in a problem, then go to bed,
I awake with the solution!
It's similar to the way that people who cannot remember something "on
command" find that it comes easily to them when they shift their
conscious concentration elsewhere for a few minutes.
It is evident that the brain has capabilities that are not simply
tapped by "effort", but require a kind of "relaxation" to work.
