Does anyone have any suggestions for room sound conditioning and
treatments (especially for those of us on a budget) that you have seen, heard
or read about and feel would/could be of help?
This can include tweaks such as surrounding your tweeters/mids with
felt tack-glued to the front loudspeaker surface......etc.
Some that have appeared in the Echo in the past and have been helpful
are:
* Use a mirror to place on the wall, floor or ceiling between you in
your listening position and you speaker drivers to determine where
your first reflection will be and where treatments would do the most
good.
* Place your subwoofer in your listening position and move around the
room, placing your head down near the floor until you find the place
where you get optimum bass. Then place the subwoofer there.
* Ugly, but inexpensive 1 to 2 inch foam rubber strips can be placed
across the face of an unlit fireplace or to reduced wall reflections
from the rear of stereo systems. Tube trap for $300 or roll up a 1
inch by 48" foam rubber strip, for a boomy corner.
*(mine)... Heavy home made quilts hanging from oak quilt racks are
great for sound treatments on the side and rear walls and have a
good appeal for the "wife factor". Especially if you can get your
wife to make them, and not really say they are sound treatment. So
you then have both sound treatment and are "showing everyone how
proud you are of your wife". (What a guy!)
Any and all would be appreciated!
