BG> I would normally agree with you there, but I have found the Dynalinks

BG> to be one of the better Taiwanese imports, and given that their 33600

 BG> V.34+ model almost certainly ISN'T Rockwell-based, I now wonder if

BG> they're perhaps rebadged USR V.34+ Sportster internals? I'd love to

 BG> see one close up...

I think you've already seen one before...

I was quite suprised when I discovered a few commands not in my

Dynalink manual, one being ati11:

===========================================================

ati11

USRobotics Sportster 33600 V.34+ Fax Link Diagnostics ...

Askey Corporation is now ISO9001 certified manufacturer and probably

makes Sportsters for USR as well as their own rebdged version.

DD> does that mean you can flash the USR flashrom into it?

 BG> Very droll. Don't forget that V.34+ - or is it V.34 (1996) ? - was

BG> supposed to be ITU-ratified this month, too.

DD> The V.34+ Dynalink can't be any worse than the V.34 Maestro.

Mine has a socketed EPROM (I think it is actually EEPROM - can't

feel a window under a sticker). I doubt (that's only my gut feeling)

you can flash new code as a user upgrade but there certainly is an

upgrade path if and when new code becomes available.

I write this paragraph a few hours later, after I've seen Dynalinks

press release about new V34+ - they say it is flash upgradeable. Who

knows, it could be true?
