Coporal punishment is not child abuse anymore than making a child stand
in the corner, thus depriving them of sensory input, is child abuse.
Any young boy would take the swats.

Mistreatment is a broad word here and society as a whole must not force
its own standards of decency on parents any more than is necessary.
What you view as abuse (i.e. any form of coporal punishment), may not
be viewed that way in another culture, or just another family.
