Chances of anyone who's spamming dozens of newsgroups actually seeing your
message are probably close to zero; though email to the author might get
seen. I've bounced the message concerned to mick howland of 690/660, where
this echo appears to be being gated to Usenet as 'fido.aust_modem'.

Seems that the spam catchers that usually eliminate most of this junk from
most Oz-distributed newsfeeds were well and truly out to lunch in this
case; apart from the (I hear) usual 20-newsgroup crosspost limit, the
subject line contains all the clues needed to trigger a half-asleep
spam-sniffer.

If this sort of thing continues, we may wish to consider the value to our
local participants of involuntarily 'going international' in this manner ..
?

All comments in NETMAIL welcome (everyone). Let's drop it here though ..

Cheers, Ian (half-asleep moderator)
