My monthly battle with depression has just hit me.  Give me a few days to
get over it, and I will be "back on top," and able to function again.  I am
extra vulnerable at the moment, with two top stressors, the death of my
mother (the last of my and my wife's parents to die) and a change of
address.  (Neither is in the Holmes-Rahe table, but death of a spouse is
100 and change in financial state is 38 points.)  But I treat depression as
a disability, not an illness, and plenty of disabled people live useful
lives.
