Learned manipulation (with or without societal/political backing) of the
human gene-pool can be seen as a very complex kind of selection pressure. 

Also, DNA-deep manipulation of a (the) human genophenotype can also be
viewed as dispassionately (abstractely/disassociatively) as thinking that
it is but one type of evolutionary variation to be tested by *non-thematic
random sampling events* [BTW, the conventional understanding of
"genetic drift" leaves much to be desired in that most
conventional explanations of this umbrella term is usually somewhat inEPT
%}] and natural selection (which is phylogenetically thematic). 

That is, the adaptive value(s) of attempts to direct our evolution (through
direct manipulation of our DNA) can only be begun to be assessed - baring
haphazard extinction events - with the benefit of future hindsight of its
outcomes (i.e., "outcomes" eventuated only after all relevant
features of the "evolutionary pressure totality" have had their
say).
