Here's what I use...

Viper commands:
AT&F
ATS0=0
ATW2
AT%C2
ATS2=255
ATM0
AT&W

Which has given me the most reliable data-calls modem that I have
ever run.  (As much as I hate MBE).  BFN.  Paul.
