18 inches is about it.  The depth in the center becomes too narrow for
larger sizes unless you are willing to consider f/8.

On a 20 - 22 inch, f/8 kindof defeats the purpose of a cheap plate glass
scope, since the rest of the scope, ladder, transport, et al, becomes
rather expensive and involved.
