SL>PM> A "leased-line" in this case is in theory a pair of wires
SL>PM> "leased" from the phone company between two sites. There

SL>PM> just connecting a very long cable between two buildings.
SL> Then no dial up is possible anywhere else than the two buildings?
In this case, yes. However, some (most modern) true Lease Line
modems support unit ID, so you can connect between any two of
several units connected on the same line.
SL> And how the modems can ring each other?
They don't RING in any case. They basically poll looking
for each other when the DTR line is raised (following the
example in the V34LL.TXT file) or when the commands are
issued from software.
