Good idea Barbara. I actually had not given any thought to this. I
rarely have a problem with my American Keets. I all ready have
problems with my English. My English are no good at keeping the
nestbox clean. The babies would get very messy if I did not do a
regular nest box cleaning. My American Keets, you could call
zealous in keeping babies and nestbox clean. My English budgie babies
might be better off with American foster parents.
Do you find it necessary to remove the feathers around the vent to
increase egg fertility? I was told to do this on both the hen and the
cock before they are set up for breeding. The cock especially.
I've also been told that the bigger the budgie the fewer the
eggs in each clutch. Is this true? I only keep one or two pairs of
American and English so I wouldn't know.
