    His offline reader or tagline manager does it for him.  Many such
programs include what is known as "macro" capability, where you can
include special codes in taglines in your tagline file.  When one of those
taglines is selected for a message, the macro is "expanded", or replaced
with whatever information it represents, such as a name or the current
date/time, etc.
