My opinion of these internet dating sites:

It is a terrible medium for meeting women
  o The internet is global - you can see lots of women but very few are
in your local area, so you can end up talking to women who are fairly
close, but still a fair drive away.
  o It is difficult to really get to know someone over the internet.
Women put on make-up, the wear clothes that are flattering, they go to
great lengths to hide their flaws. On the internet there are even more
ways to hide them.
  o Women on these sites are picky - they write to you for one or two
brief conversations then bugger off
  o There is no way to know if these women are genuinely single or
interested. There can be any number of deceptions they can pull over the
internet, from data mining, being window dressing for the dating
service, married women who want to lead men on, bitter women who want to
toy with men's emotions and on and on.
  o It is not private - I don't care how many guarentees they give you,
the sys-op have access to every conversation, and they lie, or are
evasive on privacy concerns.
  o Although men are often accused of this, believe me, there are lots
of wierdo perv women out there, too, and it is not pleasent hearing
their bizarre world view.
  o The internet "dates" are unfulfilling. You have to give up time
without much actually contact.
