If I'd let christianity define what my relationship is with my ultimate self
and the source of my existence I would care more about what 'their' books
say.
Same goes for all the other 'religions' that seek to cash in and impose
'intermediaries'  on what is after a gifted birthright - i.e. the ability to
appreciate LIFE itself.
Reality can be found by seeking within not without.

Depends on whether you took the story literally - if you did then that
belief will make a difference in your life. The 'belief' engine can
profoundly affect conciousness and perception of the world.
For this reason I strive to care what I take 'on board'.
