One of Java's strengths answers the very concerns that you
show. A Java applet cannot "damage" your system (that is
access your drives or spawn another process) due to the Java
Virtual Machine, running on your machine, will not allow it.
(You will have to trust that your Java Virtual Machine is bug
free and has no trap doors, but we have to trust
somebody....right). I will agree downloading some Java
applets can be annoying, that is taking up bandwidth for say
a spinning logo, but as far "damaging" your
