JANE KELLEY was thinking about More On Add and keyed into cyberspace:
JK>MP>JK>(Dr. Smith has written several books on the care and feeding of
JK>MP>JK>hyperactive children and adults.)
JK>MP>JK> Of the approximately 6,000 hyperactive children Dr. Smith has
JK>MP>JK> treated, 80 percent get better just by changing their diet
JK>MP>JK> and taking vitamins. He is a pioneer in the field of food
JK>MP>JK> sensitivities and child behavior.
JK>MP>This is not scientific in the slightest way. There was no control
JK>MP>group, nor did "Dr." Smith have any means to screen out for
JK>MP>non-compliance, Hawthorne or placebo effect.
JK>There are plenty of control groups. They are the kids who don't get
JK>the kind of treatment Dr. Smith provided.
Scientific research requires the use of control groups to validate the
findings. It continually amazes me how who believe salescreeps over
scientists.
JK>Thousands of them. Kids who get stuck on Ritalin instead.
Kids whose parents have weighed the evidence, and observed the results.
Parents who know that if they fail to treat the disorder properly, they
are dooming their kids to lives of failure.
Your knowledge of ADHD is only surpassed by your knowledge of Down
Syndrome (and we all know from a recent message of yours that you know
nothing about Down Syndrome).
