On 03-25-09, BOB ACKLEY said to TIM RICHARDSON: TR> Until this last presidential campaign, I'd never even heard the name TR> `Palin', didn't know Alaska had a woman governor, and I strongly TR> suspect a large part of the voting public outside Alaska didn't TR> either. BA>I hadn't heard of her either. But remember, Tim, my comment was that BA>we have 20 plus years of hate radio to thank for the situation. *I* did not invent what you call `hate radio'. And what exactly do you classify as `hate radio'? Are you refering to Rush Limbaugh? I listen to Limbaugh's show once in a while, and I don't hear any `hate' coming from him. BA>That cr*p has lowered the level of political discourse far below any BA>resemblance of civilized discussion. Those anonymous postings and comments BA>on various sites and blogs have certainly helped destroy any semblance of BA>civility. The internet is open to all. With very little control over it, and people will say what they say. BA>While you're upset WRT Palin, You are assigning an emotion to something that doesn't exist. I am not *upset* over it....I simply point it out. Look to Sauer or others for `upset' over political figures. BA>your hate radio 'personalities' and various BA>anonymous posters and bloggers were doing character assassination of both BA>Obama and Clinton during the campaign and shifted into high gear on Obama BA>after he was nominated. That doesn't seem to have bothered those on your BA>side of the fence. I didn't see any `character assassination' of either one. Things came out that neither one was able to explain, and they were embarassed by it. The problem is `your' side goes out in the cyber world and finds all this crapola, and then post up about it as though I or someone on `my' side of the aisle were in it up to our elbows! And typically, we didn't know about it to begin with, and `wouldn't' have known about it probably, if it hadn't been dragged into Fido in the first place. I had heard of Limbaugh, saw a few minutes of his show when he was on TV a long time ago, didn't like it, and was ignoring him completely. Suddenly I got accused of `getting my talking points' from Limbaugh. Let me tell you a little secret: Several years ago there used to be an echo dedicated to Liimbaugh, run by a couple of real jerky guys who were the `co' moderators. One's name was Freeze, and the other name was Fornoff or something like that. I didn't post in the echo for a long time, just read it every day. What I saw was a bunch of people who were fauning over Rush Limbaugh. It was disgusting! finally, one day I read a `mega-dittos, Rush' type message from one of these clowns, and I posted a reply to him saying that they needed to remember that Rush Limbaugh couldn't possibly `always' be right, nobody is on the whole planet, And secondly, they needed to remember that Rush Limbaugh probably put about 30 million dollars in the bank every year doing what he does. Well! You'd have thought I just tried to hijack an echo from the reaction! One of them (Freeze, I think) posted me up a reply ordering me out of the echo, forbidding me to ever post there again, condemning me as a leftwing political terrorist, etc etc etc. While he was posting that up to me, his buddy Fornoff went to my sysop, Bud Jameson, and demanded he lock me out of the echo completely! Jameson and I were sort of friends. I'd been over to his house, given him rides to various places to buy computer equipment, he'd worked on several of my computers for me, etc etc. He messaged me with what Fornoff told him, and just told me not to post in there because Fornoff had his panties in a bunch at me. BA>And it hasn't stopped or even slowed since the election. Your (and BA>others') continued use of "B. Hussein Obama" to insinuate that he has some BA>Islamic or terrorist connection without actually saying it is merely one BA>tiny example. I call him Hussein.....as a matter of fact...thats his name! Where was your indignant outrage when Sauer was calling G.W. Bush all manner of filthy names. How many times did you come out in protest against Ceppa or Klahn refering to G.W. Bush as `the shrub'? Remind me. I must have missed those posts. "You do realize that Dodd is a Republican senator, don't you?" .....Ceppa --- *Durango b301 #PE** Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 226/0 249/303 250/306 SEEN-BY: 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 SEEN-BY: 2905/0 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
