Long Island, New  York somebody(s) is shop-lifting all the exotic
birds from the local area pet stores.
The thieves stole seven exotic birds worth at least $1000 each from 5
pet shops thruout Nassau County since last week.  In one case, a
Patagonian Conure was stolen and recovered.  The thief was a regular
visitor to the store.
One pet store reported that a woman with long dark hair distracted
workers by asking questions about her parrot while the two men
apparently walked away with the birds.
And I kid you not, Detective Tweedie of Nassau County's First Squad is
investigating. The stolen birds were an African Grey, a Blue
Fronted Amazon, a couple Cockatoos, Mexican Redheaded Amazon, and a 4mos
old Mexican Redheaded Amazon still being handfed baby bird food.
