It was a favorite at many a big family Thanksgiving dinner.... back when certain members were still alive and we all lived closer together. ................................. GP> Right, NOW I'm ready for the next topic in this message! *LOL* Me too. I'm starting to wax nostalgic. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, CH> Exactly my point George. But then it's the way the word is misused CH> too. CH> "Diet" is supposed to mean 'the way you eat' rather than 'cutting down CH> on intake; eating less'. But then this is how it is misused. GP> Except, if you are making a PLAN to cut down on intake & eat less, GP> that is legitimately called a "diet", too! Nod but a 'diet' can also mean 'the way I eat to maintain my weight loss :) Once 'diet' becomes habit, perhaps it's not a 'diet' anymore but rather simply the way we eat. ............................................... CH> That and the bigger problem with 'diet' is most often lack of CH> exercise. People want to pig out in front of the tv, and expect not to CH> get fat? Oh gee, it's the food's fault! GP> Yup -- and, of course, the celebrity/etc. pop diet plans aren't about GP> actually HELPING you achieve a healthy(ier) body mass index -- they're GP> about selling something (book, video, magazine issue, food GP> supplements/substitutes, etc.) :( They don't work because for one thing people vying for the image would have to lead a more active life the way those celebrities do. Ever notice in fast food commercials how healthy the people eating the junk look? LOL. ((They Don't really eat it btw.)) Go to any fast food joint and count the number of stunningly healthy looking adults. I get a huge big kick out of the "victims" of FF. Somehow their fat is the Company's fault. Gee McDonald's holds a gun to "your" head and makes "you" eat their food? Oh nah. They're more subtle than that. The Victim will say, "they 'talked me into it!". Gosh Victims lack the power to say no? To not listen? Odd. They choose not to listen to those who promote healthy eating habits. hmmm. .........................................................
