A) They dropped all the charges except "material support for terrorism"

Basically because "attempted murder" for fighting on behalf of
the legitimate gov vs a foreign invader would have set in motion massive
nasties for US ppl.

B) & as explained in the piece...the remain charge has no merit as:

"MICHAEL MORI: This is a law that the US created in 2006 that does not
apply to Americans, that applies to Australians only.

It's created by the US for you, Australians, not for Americans. And they're
trying to apply to David Hicks for conduct in 2000 and 2001."


Post dated law? tsk tsk. This is a fairly central concept to the whole of
the rule of law. i.e. you can only break laws which exist at the time.

So five years of imprisonment w/o trial /state sponsored kidnapping &......?
