All the answers you seek are in the documentation. :)

We're nearly done with CheepEDIT; its development is very close to ending. 
Our plan was never to redo what's already been done.  We wanted to remove
the registration and get the Ezycom support working in it.  Everything else
is secondary and more than likely won't change.
