Replying to a message of TIM RICHARDSON to BOB ACKLEY: TR> On 03-23-09, BOB ACKLEY said to TIM RICHARDSON: BA>> Replying to a message of TIM RICHARDSON to JOHN FITZGERALD: TR>> When Geraldine Feraro ran as Mondale's vice-president choice, there TR>> wasn't any of this spit-spewing hatred of her present, either before TR>> or after the campaign which she and Mondale lost. TR>> I seem to recall she was treated with respect and courtesy. BA>> ISTR the same. TR>> The hatred began against Palin almost immediately. BA>> That's what 20 years of hate radio has done to political discourse in BA>> this country. That plus the anonymity of posting on blogs and web BA>> sites, people can and do say things via computer that they would not BA>> say in an ordinary conversation - especially an ordinary BA>> conversation (or debate) with a person being talked about. TR> The democrat `dirt-digging' squad got busy on Palin almost before her TR> acceptance speech was finished. It wasn't more than a day or so TR> before stuff started being publically nosed about: TR> The child wasn't hers it was her daughters, and she was just covering TR> for her; TR> She'd had an affair with some friend of her husband; TR> Her daughter was pregnant and wasn't married; (which, by the way, was TR> true, but none of anyone's business, and certainly not a political TR> issue.) TR> And on and on and on. TR> If one of Hussein Obama's daughters been pregnant and unmarried, not TR> one word would have been uttered about it. TR> Palin didn't deserve the filth that came her way for no other reason TR> than she was running on the republican ticket. TR> Until this last presidential campaign, I'd never even heard the name TR> `Palin', didn't know Alaska had a woman governor, and I strongly TR> suspect a large part of the voting public outside Alaska didn't TR> either. I hadn't heard of her either. But remember, Tim, my comment was that we have 20 plus years of hate radio to thank for the situation. That cr*p has lowered the level of political discourse far below any resemblance of civilized discussion. Those anonymous postings and comments on various sites and blogs have certainly helped destroy any semblance of civility. While you're upset WRT Palin, your hate radio 'personalities' and various anonymous posters and bloggers were doing character assassination of both Obama and Clinton during the campaign and shifted into high gear on Obama after he was nominated. That doesn't seem to have bothered those on your side of the fence. And it hasn't stopped or even slowed since the election. Your (and others') continued use of "B. Hussein Obama" to insinuate that he has some Islamic or terrorist connection without actually saying it is merely one tiny example. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 226/0 249/303 250/306 SEEN-BY: 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 SEEN-BY: 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
