Yes, it is also beyond the scope of my current hardware,
but I suspect that a Maximus/2 sysop with an X2 server
could first establish a ppp connection ( we have done this)
start up their Maximus BBS via a vmodem port ( this worked
ok too) and also have a quake server running so their
callers could play a game while they were downloading their
off line mail and files from Maximus. Although it
may be possible, a 28.8 connect isn't enough to handle
all the information needed to be passed from the
Maximus bbs and the caller. However, even though
Quake may be too much, there may be other things
a Maximus/2 sysop can do to take advantage of using
a ppp connection and running Maximus via vmodem
with the current caller. Maximus appears to work very well
with ppp & vmodem, we did play some of the 32 bit on-line
games that worked very well, almost the same as
not going through ppp at all. This method does allow
the caller to be doing more than one thing with the
Maximus bbs system at one time, rather than waiting
for a file to download to do something else. Heck
even of they could just read mail while their files
were being downloaded it would be a nice addition.
