Greetings to all,
There has been a few posts recently mentioning the K12Net. I've
recently become a K12 sysop and can pass on what I went through in
bringing the net to my board.
K12Net is a private network so you won't find it in the FIDONET.NA
as was previously mentioned. I found all the conference tags and
definitions in the ECHOLIST file. There are s ome *old* information
archives available out there that provide more detail on the network,
I've taken it upon myself to try and update some of that information
and make it available as an electronic magazine using the READROOM.TOC
format. You may call my board and check it out online (see phone #
below) or FREQ the ezine archive from me (1:2808/1). The ezine can be
setup as a bbs door or read in a stand-alone mode.
I pull my feed from Les Turner 1:227/129 - Les was very responsive
in establishing my link and everything has been running quite well.
The other source for info on the K12Net in the CONUS is George Perkins
(1:2320/270) - another member of the K12Net Coordinator Council.
There is not a lot of message traffic right now in the network, one
of the issues the council would like to work on. There was a time when
the K12Net was gated to the internet newgroups and from what I gather
there were some quality issues at stake there.
If your interested in the K12Net, I would encourage you to contact
Les to setup a feed, if you'd like to see the project I'm working on
you can FREQ: K12NET.ZIP from me here or sign onto the board and check
it out (Door menu Electronic Magazines K12Net). The project is
still considered "work-in-progress" but you're more than welcome to
check it out.
Hope this helps!
Dale
