i'll probably end up flocking the edge of the secondary. the flat black
acrylic paint doesn't cut it on such a large area. on other smaller and
more irregular things (hub threads, etc) it seems fine.

I had the same problem. My parts were already spray-paint black, but when I
added velvet to the parts of the spider and hub facing the focuser there
was a significant improvement in contrast.
Yes Jim, nice scope and site. Took a while, but I finally found a plastics
store that sells the coroplast stuff you mentioned a while back. Good
lookin' stuff.
