Yeah the Mujeheddin were terrified.

So terrified they made KGB & Khad primary targets & the KGB &
Khad ended up being confined to the large cities & then eventally
Bagram & Kabul.

Meanwhile the Mujeheddin were "crossing the river" & stirring
things up in Tadjikistan etc.
