| subject: | Alan Eldridge passed away on June 6th, 2003 |
I don't know how many of you knew of Alan Eldridge - I met him because of my work with Eric Van Riper.. and Dj Delorie's c++ compiler, that Alan worked on (AE* libraries, etc.) back in the mid 90's.. now and again he'd be bored and would kick out a program and send it over to me for the PDN.. I still have one of them at least in the pdnunix directory.. I still remember him joking about a person like me (a grandmother ) getting into *nix .. he said all he could picture was a little granny awkin' and grep'n all day long His more current work I understand, was with KDE under Free-Bsd..and I'm sure he will be sorely missed in the linux community. There's an article about Alan on the Linux News site: http://linuxtoday.com/developer/2003060901426NWCYDV May he rest in peace ..
