All kidding aside, though, I'm glad that GCC points out correct line 
numbers (usually) in its error messages.  The explanation of those 
errors leaves a bit to be desired (rather cryptic).  I'm glad I took a 
course in compiler development.  At least I can sorta understand what's 
going on.

Then, OTOH, real developers have no need for mamby-pamby tools like 
compilers and assemblers.
