In its earlier years the Labour Party considered
mental illness to be a product of capitalism.
While this is an over-simplification, there is a
sizeable chunk of truth in it. As capitalism has
gained headway in the last 25 years the problems
have mounted.
All the increase in problems has occurred in
those 25 years. Throughout the twentieth century
the average remained fair stable at 10% (7% men,
14% women).
