Yes, but remains misused when totals (which are
NOT just relative measures but absolute measures) are
mistakenly deleted in favour of a "melvin" (or a "Magoo"
as I prefer to call it because of the obvious short-sighted
nature of such a substitution). A proportion cannot substitute
for a total count within evolutionary theory gene fitness
accounting (or within any other rational system). To attempt to
do so reduces evolutionary theory to just an absurdity.
The reason why Post Modern epistemology dominates gene centric
Neo Darwinism is because population genjetics is restricted
to a Mr Magoo relative vision of fitness. No wonder Hamilton's
rule cannot measure any difference between an investment
and a donation! The absurdity of relativistic logic attempting
to measure when something is, or is not selected, remains childish
in the extreme. The view that the random patterns caused by the
random process "genetic drift" can be defined to mean evolution
and not just temporal variation is constituted from a stone age
epistemology.
Apparently, it seems that gene centric Neo Darwinists are a breed
of Post Modern barbarians who care nothing except for their own
irrational dictates. They happily force these dictates onto their
students and all and sundry (at the tax payer's cost..
of course..).
