 M$ Excel "Currency" number type internally stores four decimal places
(scaled 64-bit integer), even though only two places are displayed. It
allows for the accumulation of fractional cents

 Other than my COBOL courses in the late 70s, my 35 year programming
life was pretty much all floating point data with some string manipulation.
Satellite ephemerides, radio wave propagation/signal strength, etc.
