=-> Quoting Scott Rhodes to Martin Ridgley:
MR> And I'm certainly not slagging Wakeman. He's a great keyboard
MR> player. But ... He seems to me to be more of an individualist
MR> than a band-oriented musician.
SR> Perhaps, but in a band like Yes that tends to work pretty well. On
SR> songs like "Close to the Edge" and "Awaken", every band member gets
SR> his own chance at showing off, but it comes together very well.
Yeah, true. It does work sometimes. But Yes seemed more of a
cohesive group to me on _The Yes Album_ (with Tony Kaye).
Still, _Close to the Edge_ is one of my favourite albums. The only
Yes album where I really felt the individualism was a bit too pronounced
was _Fragile_. That's what solo albums should be for.
SR> I must be in the minority on this one. _Yesshows_ is one of only
SR> a handful of live albums I consider worth owning. It's got some
SR> draggy moments on it, but "Gates of Delirium" and "Ritual" are, IMO,
SR> excellent.
Yeah, it seems you are in the minority. ;-) I haven't heard _Yesshows_
in years, but I don't recall hearing anything on it that made me want to
buy it. I *would* like to hear "Gates of Delirium" with Moraz again.
_Relayer_ is one of my fave Yes albums.
Cheers,
Martin
