Janus in BinkleyTerm was bidirectional well before Hydra appeared on the 
scene. For BBS uploading while downloading, there was BiModem and HS/Link.  I 
still have registered copies of both BiModem and HS/Link somewhere on my old 
BBS. These days there isn't much call for them, since most BBSes stick with 
the "standard" Zmodem.
