1237bdb122d2 c_echo Hello Bill - >> Hello Bill, been awhile. You're right, it was a bit on the >> mean side. BB> OK, Charles. I didn't take umbrage. Been retired too long BB> for that. Good. :-) BB> A bit of controversy does wonders for increasing lurker BB> participation, and it's been a bit dry (not to say dead) of BB> late. I've not been inspired to write anything in 'C' or any other language for quite some time now. I don't even have my 'C' compiler installed onto this machine yet. BB> I haven't bothered to learn Celerion assembler. It's not BB> sufficiently different, and other matters tend to press in BB> on the available time. BB> When I was working I had a fairly easy time. Now I am BB> rushed off my feet and get much less done, but it's all BB> enjoyable. I think it's the cocoon around you when you are BB> working that narrows your focus. Yes, inertia is a bugger. :-) BB> It is interesting that the programs that stopped working on BB> Win ME now work again on Windows XP, so Windows is not one BB> OS but many. I think I prefer backwards compatibility, but BB> I'm open to persuasion, if I can be convinced of increased BB> utility (which I doubt). Seems to me that Microsoft tried to re-invent Windows starting with ME and has been wallowing in disappointments from that time to this. XP is OK (sort of) but the hardware requirements and inefficient use of processing power is discouraging to me. I read rumors that NTFS is going to be dumped but in favor of what I do not read. I also read Microsoft is testing a mini-OS standalone to replace the 'recovery console' used for OS that use NTFS. Either , if successful, would be a welcomed addition. I've mainly been doing music files here and watching time go by. http://www.undercoverdesign.com/dosghost/dos/samples.asp > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
