It's not a big deal, I thought I was being helpful to others as well as the
future me that clones this repo again, as I'm sure I will.
I didn't agree with Mcbrine's comment on your (?) issue here

asserting that there's "no reason" for a .gitignore file in a repo. Of course
there are reasons (and I gave him one) and his response was a dismissive "Good
grief". Okay, that's fine. It's his repo and it's not a big a deal, but as he
stated, it's a pet peeve of his that he apparently doesn't like talking about.
Whatever.
