Hello Björn!

KvE>> When was the last time you crossed the Dutch/German border.

BF> I just did four times on four different locations (via Google Street
BF> View). And none of them showed any signs of a slow-down zone. It was full
BF> speed ahead on all of them.

BF> What road did you use?

 Depends where I a going.
For Scandinavia I use A7 Nieuweschans-Bunde. There is no abandoned Customs
building there and no speed limit other than that the maximum speed in
DE is higher that in NL.

Going east E30 Oldenzaal-Osnabruck to my knowledge there is a speed limit
 there.
Enschede - Gronau N35-54 That is not a motorway, so there is a speed limit
 anyway.
Going south-east E35 Arnhem-Oberhausen, you have to slow down there.
Going south E19 Breda-Antwerpen, there is no speedlimit there.
Or I take the western route around Antwerpen. I Bdon't know if it has
improoved, but you had to tighten all the bolts after passing the E34 West.

I have used some of the other border crossings, but I have no recollections
 of the situation.

Going abroad, I mostly travel with my "Huskbil" and I prefer using
 secondary roads.

Germany will be making it even more unatractive to travel as it already is.
Unfortunately I have to cross Germany twice to go to Scandinavia and back.

Well, compared to the fee on the Store Belt and the Oresund bridges,
it may not be too bad.

Kees
