Unlucky. That appears to be a Cirrus Logic-based modem. It isn't RPI, but
it is bad news -- well, let me qualify that. Cirrus are a small market
player in modem semiconductors. They aren't supported terribly well and
they do not have a loyal following. They also made some unbelievably stupid
design decisions in some of their earlier chipsets (eg hard-wiring
country-specific features). When you upgrade to 28k8, try not to go for a
Cirrus 8-)

Odd, I thought Active modems were Rockwells. Hmm.

Lock your end to receive faxes no faster than 9600bps. Most real fax
machines only support 9600 anyway.
